Overview: Everything about Jessie Gillmansen's life changed when her mother died. Now even her hometown of Junction is changing. Mysterious dark things are happening. All Jessie wants is to avoid more change. But showing a hot new guy around Junction High, she's about to discover a whole new type of change. Pietr Rusakova is more than good looks and a fascinating accent—he's a guy with a dangerous secret. And his very existence is sure to bring big trouble to Jessie's small town. It seems change is the one thing Jessie can't avoid...
Review: Jessica, the narrator and protagonist, is dealing with the aftermath of her mother's death. Her grief influences her throughout the book. Jessie's grief is believable and the right amount. Not too scarce that you'd think she never loved her mother, and not too much that you'd think she was wining the whole book. She also tries to keep her "best friend" from finding out about her role in her mother's death. Then she is assigned to show the new kid around school. Pietr (sounds like "Peter" just spelled differently) the mysterious, good-looking, new kid that seems to be able to look right through Jessie, is unlike anyone she has ever meet. But Pietr has a terrible family secret that manifests greatly in his life. Can Jessie handle anymore change?
MAD GAB: (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)
I would rate this an: 8 out of 10
When I finished reading this book, my first thought was "its an 8 out of 10" but the more I think about it the more I like it, but 8 seems to fit perfectly.
First, I was drawn to this book because I liked the cover. Yes I judge books by covers... most of the time. I felt like a werewolf book and when I saw it I was immediately like "OMG a new werewolf book for my collection!" It's not like you didn't see it being a werewolf book, right? The cover has a full moon in a person's eye. It's not hard to put 2 and 2 together. But to you who didn't see it coming, was it surprising? Since I knew it was a werewolf book from the beginning I was looking forward to it the whole book! And it only had hints until the very end when it finally was reviled. I really liked Jessie because she reminded me of myself but Annabelle really reminded me of myself more... the mischievous side of me. *evil laugh Mua ha ha ha. That being said, it made me feel her pain. It was written with awkward paces. Paces meaning it was slow at some points then fast at others. It was especially fast at the end! How fast it was, totally ruined the ending for me. It makes me mad because I love the book just hate the ending. I mean Shannon, the author, could have had a deadline or it was her first novel so she didn't know how to end it from lack of experience, I can understand that, but I don't like to read how time crunched the author is. The ending almost discourages me from wanting to read the sequel. Almost. How unique the storyline is, with its mix of werewolf mythology and the incorporation of real life historical facts, is what keeps me coming back. Anyway, I can talk for hours about this but I would like to know what you guys think. Please post your comments below.

Our Meet Cute
First I would like to say I like reading teen fiction. So to all of you who don't like this genre, this might not be the blog for you. There will probably be a few outliers as far as books go though. So let's get to know each other.
My name is Paige. (aka JElly BElly) I'm a Pisces. I like short walks on the beach because I love swimming more then walking. I don't eat fish because: Fish are friends, Not food. I'm allergic to spiders. I'm am a bad speller even though I was in spelling club. Before I drink from a straw I always have to blow through it because I'm afraid there will be bits of the paper/plastic wrapper in the middle. I read more than I go out, I know, sad right? As a result I am starting a book review blog. I really hope more then just my mom will read this. I look forward to getting the show on the road.
